Playwright Matt Yeager (www.howtopayrent.com) takes us
where most theatre fears to tread: the world in which we
live. When Scott's online identity starts to consume his
real one, his friends are no help: Abby is stuck in the body
of her twelve year old daughter and Chad's gone manorexic.
Turning to his trusty iPod leaves our hero anything but centered,
as visions of pop singers dance in his head.
OUT OF BODY AND OUT OF MIND offers a fast-paced glimpse
into our runaway world. Fascist gamers and figments of
our imaginations collide in this frenetic new comedy of
manners, modern technology, and mind games.
Lucid co-founder Brenda Withers (Matt & Ben,
Best of Fringe 2002, TIME's Top 5 Plays of the Year) makes
her happy return to the festival in the company of a crack
creative team. Lucid alums Matthew Kinney and Zachary Buchanan
join an ensemble led by director David Apichell. The complete
cast includes Julie Fitzpatrick, Lindsey Broad, and Julia
Osborne as Eponine, a Broadway baby from the wrong side
of the virtual tracks.
The New York Fringe Festival runs from August 12-27.
OUT OF BODY AND OUT OF MIND will perform at the Connelly
Theatre (220 East 4th Street between A & B), and
tickets will be available at www.fringenyc.org starting
July 30th.
